Mission Statement and Program & Services CEP Youth Leadership, Inc. designs and implements education, prevention, and development programs for a group of diverse youth to promote leadership skills, foster positive relationships, and provide opportunities to engage in community service resulting in life-long civic responsibility and a unified community.

PROGRAMS AND SERVICES:

High School Leadership Program
High school teens from four high schools across Lyons and Southern Proviso townships engage in a day-long Leadership Conference. After the conference, youth meet regularly to plan, implement and evaluate service projects. By attending additional training, participants have the opportunity to serve as Teen Leaders for the Junior High Leadership Program and other junior high events.

Junior High Leadership Program
Eighth grade students from 13 local junior highs can attend a local day-long Leadership Conference that begins their CEPYL involvement. Students then plan and implement service projects that benefit their school and community throughout the year. In addition, students are invited to Reunite Nights that provide a way for students to stay in touch with each other in a fun environment.

After School Program (The Hangout)
The After School Program is a cooperative between CEPYL and Brookfield United Methodist Church that provides middle-school aged students with a safe and supervised environment to relax with friends after school. The program engages students in fun and exciting activities that increase confidence and encourage teamwork and leadership. Homework completion is always a focus and other activities include games, field trips and service projects.

Mentoring
The Mentoring Program establishes a one-to-one relationship between a screened and trained adult volunteer and a child (ages 5 through 12) in need of additional adult contact, guidance and support. This relationship is developed through participation in weekly social/recreational activities.

Tutoring
The tutoring program helps participants develop positive study habits and improve grades, as well as providing individual support so they feel more connected to the organization and community.

Girls Group
Teenage girls in Lyons and southern Proviso Twp. face health risks common to communities including eating disorders, weight problems, fitness issues, drug or alcohol abuse, depression and risks associated with sexual activity. The goals of the Girls Group are to create opportunities for high school girls to explore their higher potential through health education and discussion; physical activities, opportunities for volunteer community service and positive interaction with a diverse group of teens. Girls in the program increase their knowledge of health issues affecting them; increase their understanding of health risks and how to avoid them.

Watch My Feet
Watch My Feet is a performance group composed of high school students from five area high schools bringing the message of hope and leadership to other young people throughout the community. The power of peer-to-peer education provides Watch My Feet with the ability to bring about change and expose other youth to positive solutions in situations they may encounter in their lives.
